Strategery

Privacy Policy

The short version: you can play Strategery without telling us anything at all. If you want to play online with friends, you need an account, and we keep only what it takes to make that work. We don’t sell your information. Ever.

Playing without an account

Solo games against the computer and pass-and-play games on one device work entirely on your device. Nothing about those games is sent to us. No account, no email address, no sign-in.

Playing with an account

Online multiplayer needs an account, so the server can pass turns between you and the people you play with. When you create one, we store:

Email addresses are only used to verify your account, reset your password, and reply to messages you send us. We don’t send newsletters or marketing email.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from inside the app at any time. Deletion is immediate and irreversible: it removes your email, credentials, handle, avatar, friends, blocks, device tokens, and your friend conversations (from both sides), and resigns any games you were still in. Your former handle is held for a period afterward so nobody can impersonate you with it, and then released.

Technical information

Like every server on the internet, ours keeps basic technical logs, such as the IP address a request came from and when it arrived. We use that to keep the service running, to rate-limit abuse, and to diagnose problems. Logs are kept briefly and then discarded.

The app keeps you signed in with a session token stored on your device. The website uses a cookie for the same purpose on pages that need one.

Telemetry

Strategery does not currently collect any analytics or telemetry. We may add some in the future to understand which features get used and where the app crashes. If we do, it will be anonymized: aggregate counts and crash traces, not anything tied to you, your account, or your device identity. This policy will be updated when that happens.

Third parties

Strategery uses Apple for push notifications and Sign in with Apple, Hetzner for server hosting, and Resend to deliver verification and password-reset email. Those companies see the basic technical information that passes through their services. None of them receive your information for any other purpose.

We do not share personal information with anyone else except to the extent necessary to operate Strategery. We do not sell it, rent it, or trade it.

When we might disclose information

We may disclose information in response to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal requirements; to exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims; to investigate, prevent, or take action regarding illegal activities, suspected fraud or abuse, or violations of our policies; or to protect our rights and property.

In the future, we may sell to, buy, merge with, or partner with other businesses. In such transactions, user information may be among the transferred assets.

We may delete your information at any time and for any reason, such as technical needs, legal concerns, abuse prevention, removal of idle accounts, data loss, or any other reason.

Children

We never knowingly collect or maintain information from anyone we know to be under 13, and no part of Strategery is designed to attract anyone under 13.

California Online Privacy Protection Act

We comply with the California Online Privacy Protection Act. We will not distribute your personal information to outside parties without your consent.

Information for European Union users

By using Strategery and providing your information, you authorize us to collect, use, and store your information outside of the European Union.

International transfers

Information may be processed, stored, and used outside of the country in which you are located. Data privacy laws vary across jurisdictions, and different laws may apply to your data depending on where it is processed, stored, or used.

Changes to this policy

Most changes are likely to be minor, but Strategery may change this Privacy Policy from time to time at its sole discretion. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of it. The date at the top tells you when it last changed.
